"All In The Family"
Born and raised on the big island of Kohala, Hawaii, Grandpa was self-taught to play the ukulele at the age of 5 by the suggestion from his mother who also is a musician. Allen is a retired Pastor. He moved to California in 2005 after his wife passed away unexpectedly. He loves singing and playing music with his son, and grandchildren. Grandpa says, “playing music and performing together is a great way to keep the “ohana” (family) connected!”
Michael is Grandpa’s son. Michael grew up on the big island of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Michael plays the slack key- and acoustic guitar and sings lead vocals. Michael and his brother Israel grew up playing music all of their life. They were taught by Grandpa Allen to play various musical instruments to help with their Dad’s church. Grandpa taught them to play: piano, guitar, drums, percussion and to sing. In their teens, the brothers formed a band in high school. In 1984 Michael moved to the mainland-California to help with the music at his Aunt’s church.
